Performance Horse Sale
The 2021 Cal Poly Performance Horse Sale will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the Oppenheimer Family Equine Center. A preview will be held Friday, June 18, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Cal Poly’s Quarter Horse Enterprise project is a program comprised of well-qualified student riders who are selected to start and train Cal Poly bred Quarter Horses. Each year, these horses are sold at the Cal Poly Performance Horse Sale after at least five months of training. The two-year-old horses are trained entirely by students and are geared towards performance, general riding and ranch work. The goal of the program is to produce a versatile and quiet horse, as well as well-rounded, hardworking and knowledgeable student riders with training experience. The Quarter Horse Enterprise, under the supervision of instructor Lou Moore-Jacobsen, is a unique opportunity that truly embodies the university’s Learn by Doing philosophy. To learn more, click here.
