Iberian Pig Research
Animal Science Associate Professor Rodrigo Manjarin and Biological Sciences Assistant Professor Magdelena Majare studying Iberian pigs right here on Cal Poly’s campus. The research provides many Learn by Doing opportunities for undergraduate students who are interested in doing biomedical research. From examining the effects of pesticides on a pig’s body including neurological influences to investigating the etiology and pathophysiology of metabolic disorders in children, these fascinating pigs from Spain serve as excellent models for better understanding similar physiological effects in humans.
