Study Abroad in Australia
A new seven-week study abroad program in Australia, led by two CAFES professors, will be offered during the winter 2026 quarter. Agribusiness Professor Lynn Hamilton will teach two agribusiness courses and Experience Industry Management Professor Marni Goldenberg will teach two GE classes.
The program takes place in Adelaide, Australia, and the courses and several field trips focus on the Australian wine and agricultural industry as well as cultural and leadership topics. The program is seven weeks long in January and February 2026, allowing time for travel afterward.
Courses offered:
- AGB 318 – Global Agricultural Marketing and Trade (AGB major and AGB minor elective)
- AGB 422 – Transportation and Logistics in Global Agribusiness (AGB major and AGB minor elective)
- WLC 310 – Cultures of Australia (GE Area C4)
- RPTA/NRM 328 – Environmental Leadership and Community Engagement (GE Upper Division D)
Students choose three of the four classes, for a total of 12 units. Prerequisites are waived for non-majors for the AGB classes. All courses will use Australia as a learning laboratory, with field trips to wineries and vineyards, local markets and food businesses and a tour of the Port of Adelaide. Additional activities include a weekend trip to Kangaroo Island, a visit to the local wildlife park to hang out with koalas and kangaroos and Australian guest speakers to learn about the country’s history and culture.
Applications for the Australia 2026 program open April 17 and close June 7, 2025. All major are welcome to participate in this study abroad program.
