
Dairy Judging Team takes national title
The Cal Poly Dairy Products Judging Team, coached by dairy science professor Vincent Yeung, competed at the annual Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest, on April 16 in Madison, Wisconsin. The contest was hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association, and superintended by U.S. Department of Agriculture. Team members Brianne Agresti, Molly Feins, Ari Gold, Eva Lazur and Mika Zeplovitch judged six categories of dairy products including butter, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese, ice-cream, milk and yogurt, based on flavor, texture and appearance. Cal Poly took first place in ice cream, milk, and yogurt judging categories, thereby claiming the national championship. Cal Poly also placed second in the Butter category. Cal Poly has won the ice cream team category four years in a row. In the individual categories, Mika Zeplovitch finished first in milk and yogurt, while Brianne Agrestiwas took first place in the ice-cream category.
